A while back I asked on my Facebook page how often people washed their makeup brushes? Answers ranged from weekly to monthly to yearly or the one I found the funniest “I just throw them away when they get dirty”. Ok so why should you wash your brushes? One: Your makeup will look better – If you don’t clean your brushes then there will be a residue of old makeup building up on them every time you use them. This will muddy up your colours and obviously makes it very hard to blend out the edges of your makeup. And as you all know blending out your makeup makes it appear flawless and airbrushed looking. Two: BACTERIA – Yuck!!! Obviously when you use your brush it picks up dead skin cells, oils and any bacteria that is on your face (even skin that has just been cleansed). And if you don’t clean your brush it just sits there marinating in old makeup, skin cells and bacteria until the next time you use it. Then you use it again, its collect more and the cycle continues. So if you clean your brushes regularly then you can reduce breakouts, prevent eye infections and improve the overall appearance of your skin. If you wash your brushes weekly with a mild shampoo you will keep your tools and skin in great condition. Or if you prefer you can buy brush cleaners like MAC Brush Cleaner (€14) or E.L.F Brush cleanser (€5). You can also do daily spot cleaning with a spray on brush cleaner like the Clinique Brush Cleanser. You basically just spray a little on the brush and wipe it off with a tissue. Its dries quickly and can be used again in a few minutes. Here is how I clean my brushes: 1. Begin by running your brushes under lukewarm water, rinsing out all of the residual makeup. Just wet the bristles of the brush never where the handle meets the ferrule (the area between the bristles and the head) as this can loosen the glue over time. 2. Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and a squirt of shampoo, and gently swirl your brush tip in the water. If you need to, you can also swirl the brush in the palm of your hand to work up a lather. If your brushes are very dirty you may need to repeat this step. 3. Rinse the brush tip under running water once again until the water runs clear from the brush, 4. Use a cloth to wipe your brush clean, reshaping the bristles as you go. 5. Lay your brushes flat on a cloth to dry. So why not make this one of your New Year's Resolutions. It literally takes only a few minutes and your skin and brushes will thank you for it. Happy New Year to you all

Inis "The Energy of the Sea" was first launched in 1998 and has been a best seller worldwide since then. Inspired by the beauty and energy of the sea off the western coast of Ireland Inis "embodies the coolness, clarity, energy and purity of the sea". I love anything to do with the sea and this fragrance reminds me of many happy days spent in Salthill, Galway. It is very hard to capture a fragrance in words and everyone has different tastes but I will try to describe this scent as best I can.
Inis is a beautiful easy fragrance to wear. It smells clean, crisp and invigorating - everything the ocean embodies. It reminds me of sunshine on my face and a light breeze on a summer's day. For those of you who want to know about the Fragrance Notes they are as follows: Top Notes Sparkling, diffusive citrus, notes of Sicilian lemon, bergamot, neroli and traces of marine notes.
