I thought at 33 I would have grown out of stupid spots and breakouts but oh no I seem to get more and more of them as I get older. I don't have oily skin but do suffer from hormonal breakouts ( I suffer from PCOS so my hormones are completely NUTS). No matter how clean my skin is or how well it is kept exfoliated I always get spots around my nose and my chin area. So this little tube of gel cream is my lifesaver. Effaclar Duo is designed to reduce the appearance of imperfections and prevent future breakouts and contains two active ingredients, LHA and Linoleic Acid, which eliminate the dead skin cells that are responsible for clogging pores and causing breakouts. The two other active ingredients, Niacinamide and Piroone Olamine purify the skin, protect against breakouts developing, and help to calm down and reduce imperfections.
It is a lightweight gel that you apply all over your face after cleansing. I generally only apply it to the spot prone areas though. You only need to use a small amount and it soaks straight into the skin so you can use it underneath your moisturiser and makeup. I notice a diffence overnight in my skin but everyone is different. It cost about €16/€17 and you can get it in selected pharmacies nationwide. There are seven specialist products in the Effaclar range each of which has been especially designed to purify & combact oily or blemish prone skin, clogged pores and imperfections. So check them out to get your skin looking amazing for the party season.

I recently discovered this gorgeous range of natural organic skincare and bodycare products. They are the brainchild of John Collins and Cathy Kirk. Cathy is a qualified beauty therapist with training in Aromatherapy whilst John runs a successful health shop, teaches Tai Chi & Qi Gong as well as been involved in the health industry for more than 25 years. So between them they really do know what they are talking about. They wanted to produce a skincare range using organic products with no chemical nasties and that was cruelty free. Basically "as pure as Irish Rain". The products come in beautiful colourful glass jars and bottles and smell like top end spa cosmetics (Think Elemis). There is a beautiful Revitalising Facial Oil which is a god send for dull skin. It gives a healthy glow to your skin and evens out skin tone and reduces age spots. Also I love the Essential Deep Cleansing Oil. As you all know I am a big fan of cleansing oils as they can be used on all skin types including oily skin and they just melt makeup, dirt and grime off your face. This one contains Almond Oil, Lavender and Frankincense and smells heavenly. So if you are looking for a natural skincare range free from Parabens and all those other nasties why not check out this wonderful range. They are an Irish company based in Co. Galway and their website is www.irishrain.org. You can order the products online or find out your nearest local stockist. Have any of you tried anything from their range yet? So I popped into Brown Thomas lately as I had a few things on my wish list. Top of the list was Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I had got a sample of this and I really loved it. (If you ask at at Estee Lauder counter they will colour match you and give you a sample to try at home before you buy). Whilst I was at the Estee Lauder counter I managed to get talked into buying the Double Wear Stay In Place High Cover Concealer. It has a lightweight texture and a concentrated formula that promises excellent coverage and twelve whooping hours of wear I was excited to say the least. The oil-free formula minimizes the looks of fine lines and wrinkles and is powerful enough to hide imperfections, blemishes, spots, scarring, and more. I will let you know how I get on with it after I have used it a couple of times. I have being dying to get the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser for ages. Most people like to wear a tinted moisturiser in summer because of its light texture but I think they are great for winter also because they are designed to give a hint of colour and even out the skintone whilst keeping the skin hydrated. It leaves your skin feeling comfortable all day and even in cold weather it won't crack or emphasise any dry flaky patches. These cost €48 but contain 50mls of product and a tiny bit really goes a long way and if you need any extra coverage just use a concealer on those areas. I also picked up the Laura Mercier foundation primer in Radiance. I got a sample of this recently and fell in love with it. It has a slight golden peach glow but doesn't colour the skin or cause a shimmer . It is suitable for all skin types and gives a great airbrushed effect to the skin. I stopped by Benefit because I was out of my Dandelion Brightening Face Powder (€34). This powder is a beautiful cool pink with a golden shimmer and I use it more as a highlighter on the face. I also picked up the new Rockateur blush. This is a beautiful neutral Rosy Gold with shimmer. It is one fo the softest and smoothest blushes in the Box O' lines and almost feels creamy to apply. It leaves the skin with a lovely glow and I can't wait to try it out. I wanted to get a new Autumnal shade for my eyeshadow palette. I was recommended Sketch by my good friend Anna. This is a dark burgundy brown with a velvet finish. It can be applied sheer for a lovely wash of warm burgundy or build it up over the lid for an intense deep smokey eye. I love it already. All that glitters is a great shimmery golden beige. It it so flexible and I have yet to find another shadow that it doesn't go with. It blends well or just use it all over the eye with some liner for a beautiful simple look. And thats it...Most of these were on my wish list for a while so I was very excited to get them. What is on your wish list? Let me know in the comments below...
